Not too long ago, the neoportal was reporting issues with the Hispanic translation of the movie, and now it seems familiar changes have hit up the Japanese version as well. Due for release December 15th in Japan, a number of the original actors were removed in favour of TV regulars.

In an unfortunate twist for Japanese fans watching the dubbed version, the actors who voice the characters in the series were pushed aside to make room for television regulars George Tokoro, Akiko Wada, Becky and London Boots' Akira Tamura.

With the movie nearing, the premier of the show has yet to be set in any particular city. However, one thing is known, and that is the city which will being hosting it is going to be called Springfield. 16 (of the 32) Springfields from around the United States have been asked if they would like to have the premier, however, the city of Portland, so far, seems to have the greatest chance because of the connections between Oregon and the creator of The Simpson's, Matt Groening.

We'll get you more news as it comes.

Everyone who is a fan of the series has likely heard of Apu, the infamously unlucky and commonly shot Kwik-E-Mart owner and cashier, who is the proud owner of several scars, which he parades around like medals. Luckily for the folks who live near a 7-11, a life of high crime might be coming to a city near you!

As part of the new marketing campaign for the upcoming movie, 11 7-11s (out of 4700) are being changed into temporary versions of Homer's favourite shop for chocolate icecream with miniature pies and a few six packs of Duff. While neither of those are available, such things as Squishees, Buzz Cola and a few other products will be available. This is all alongside another marketing campaign, where it is currently being decided which Springfield "The Simpsons" is going to be shown in.

Mike Reiss, one of the writers for The Simpsons, speaks for a bit about what goes on on the inside of The Simpsons. The writer, who has spoken over a hundred times to numerous people at the behest of a friend, answers questions and fields bits of trivia and such about The Simpsons which isn't commonly known to many people. The entire interview is here. A short excerpt is below:

''I didn't expect to be asked by a 6-year-old girl, 'Why are they yellow?''' he recalls sheepishly about the question on the color of the Simpsons family's skin. ''I didn't know the answer, and had to ask around. Turns out, the artists knew. Bart and Lisa's hair blends into their skin, so they had to figure out what was a color halfway between the color of skin and the color of hair. It was yellow.''

Mexicans might be noticing a slight change in some of the voice acting when it comes to The Simpson's and the upcoming movie. While the voice acting in Spanish speaking countries has been superb, it was recently announced that there could be some changes to the voice acting cast due to issues with a strike some time ago.

Gabriel Chavez, the voice of Homer Simpson's boss Mr. Burns, told the Mexican newspaper El Universal that his union's voice-over actors were told they could work on "The Simpsons Movie" — to be released worldwide this summer — as a condition to the end of their strike in 2005.

"Gentlemen keep their word," Chavez told the newspaper.

He said that if Mexico's National Actors Association is not allowed to dub the film into Spanish, "there will be a boycott across Latin America of the film."

The actors, most, if not all, who were switched out, are now calling for a boycott of the film.

The Simpson's break yet another record by being the first hit TV show to ever come back and do the festival twice, combining the ending of the event with some very memorable comments from both the cast and from the interviews which happened that day.

While Cartswright showed off her skills by switching between characters such as Bart, Nelson and Ralph during the show while talking a bit in her own voice, Groening gave the fans the reasons behind choosing Springfield for the show:

"I used to draw a weekly comic strip [Life Is Hell] with bunny rabbits in it ... and then I got a call from Gracie Films to do animation for the Tracey Ullman Show ... I thought I'd do one on the bunny rabbits. Fifteen minutes before the meeting I heard the cartoon would eventually fall into FOX's clutches. I was not going to waste my great bunnies on this network that wasn't going anywhere. So on the spot I created [The Simpsons]. I was in a hurry, so I named them after the members of my own family ... but changed Matt to Bart.

"Springfield is the city in Father Knows Best, but also a couple towns over from where I grew up in Portland, Oregon ... But it's a common name, so I thought it'd be fun if everyone thought it was their [Springfield]."

Alongside this, the folks in the panel spoke about the guest stars on the show, and some general tid-bits which some of the more die-hard fans didn't know about. To read the entire thing, click the source below!

Nancy Cartwright, one of the voice actors for The Simpsons, recently sat down for a talk with the Simpsons consulting producer, Mike Scully, about a number of the aspects of his work within the Simpsons, and a good bit into the background of The Simpsons themselves. From voice acting, to character animation, to some background about Mike himself. A short part of the interview is below, and the entire interview is available to read here, on Nancy Cartwright's column section of the website.

Enjoy!

NC: What are my chances of a successful career in animation if I don't live in New York or Los Angeles?

MS: It's definitely tougher in the beginning. There's a lot more opportunity in N.Y. and L.A. Also, many of your potential peers and contacts are in those cities. Eventually, however, you may be able to move out of town and work from a local or home studio. I know one person who does that, but they started out here and still have to come here periodically for work. It's not easy.

On the animation front, there are new studios popping up around the country all the time. The Internet can help you find them.

IMDB.com recently put up an article with a possible synopsis for the upcoming Simpson's movie, purely on speculation. While this has yet to be confirmed, and therefore, should only be taken at face value, it is the beginning of hearing what could be happening in The Simpson's movie, not including the odd interview with a cast member who mentions how exited they are.

"When Homer accidentally pollutes the river with toxic waste from the nuclear power plant, he gets fired from his job, and everyone has to evacuate Springfield, possibly forever."

Who knows? This might actually end with Homer being fired, permanently.

Leave it to The Simpson's to manage to spurn the Iraq War using slobbering aliens. In the third segment of the Treehouse of Horror Special this year, the show throws a rather hard blow which is obviously related to the war in Iraq.

At one point during this segment, one of the aliens turns to the other and says "You said they'd greet us as liberators", with the response from the other alien being "Don't worry; we still have the people's hearts and minds.", after which he holds up a heart and a brain. The operation itself was in search of Weapons of Mass Disintegration, called "Operation Enduring Occupation".

This isn't the first time that The Simpson's have delved into the world of political humour, and have done so in previous Treehouse of Horror specials in previous years. This is the heaviest that commentary has been pointed to the government of America.

"This sure is a lot like Iraq will be." - Kang.

The Treehouse of Horror has been a long running and popular series of The Simpsons, coming around every Halloween to share a number of scary (well, scarier than usual) Simpsons episodes in a half hour, ranging in the past from Ned Flanders being beheaded by a Gremlin to Willy the Groundskeeper killing children in their dreams.

IGN managed to catch a video interview with Silverman about the upcoming show which he will be directing, where he talks a bit about what will be in the show (War of the Worlds to The Blob) and a few other bits of information for viewing pleasures.

"It's just become a perrenial favourite, not only for the viewers, I think, but us to, the writers and the animators. We just love doing it, always a lot of great, crazy, crazy stuff. Great, crazy costume changes. Great, crazy plots. Great, crazy people. Just in general. Just here in the studio. We just don't like showing them because, uh, they're too crazy."

Fred Olsen, currently residing on a 11,000 acre plot of land in Scotland where he runs his multiple firms from, has made it clear that he, in fact, does know that he is the basis for Simpson's antagonist Charles Montgomery Burns, voiced by Harry Shearer.

Fred Olsen is a multi-millionare, running a series of firms, and his own power plant, first came to the inspiration of The Simpson's creator when Olsen was in dispute with the staff of American Timex factories.

While his policy of never giving interviews and public dislike has earned him a few nicknames, most agree that he fits most with Burns from The Simpsons.

Harry Shearer, the voice actor of Mr. Charles Montgomery Burns, is going to be starring alongside his wife, Judith Owen, at the Edinburgh Fringe.

He and his wife are in the show "This Is So Not About The Simpsons (American Voyeurs)", a satirical look at America, from George Bush to Micheal Jackson, which at this time, has not been getting the best of reviews. At the end of this period, Shearer will be paying more attention to his upcoming film projects, such as "For Your Consideration" and, of course, the Simpson's on the big screen.

"We've done a lot of the acting tracks for it but we keep being asked to come back in and do more," says Shearer, when asked about The Simpsons project.

"I'm presuming that they're animating it at warp speed as we speak because the movie comes out July 2007. So better get a move on!"

They will be playing until the 28th of August, except for the fifteenth.

A few hours ago, it was reported that China has supposedly decided to ban such foreign animated shows as Mickey Mouse, The Simpson's and Pokemon from their television stations during primetime (5-8), due to the competition that these shows seem to cause, most of which are more interesting to the 250 million Chinese children, than those cartoons that are already in China.

This is a continuation of the move of the Chinese government for more control of the production of internal culture, and less influence from outside sources, such as Europe, or Japan. With this ban, the show Monkey King, a locally made cartoon, should rocket and become more popular.

For more information on this ban, along with similar actions the Chinese government is taking, please click here.

  Aug 12 2006 - Simpson's For Eternity?

A recent article on Tv.com, spoke to Peter Liguori about the upcoming eighteenth season of the Simpson's, with no end in site, along with mentioning that the Fox Network is considering to add a fifth animated series to their sunday night program list.

With Fox speculating that The Simpson's will bring in a new, younger audience with the upcoming movie, Peter joking mentioned that he thinks that The Simpson's will outlive him and the network.

"I think I'm going to be dead and buried before The Simpsons ever gets removed from the air," he said to laughs.

With that success, coupled with the comebacks of recent shows such as American Dad and Family Guy (Family Guy Neoportal), Peter mentions that they are becoming aggressive in trying to add on a fifth show to the Sunday slot, as the solid success of the animated shows present there has helped build up viewership with younger men, something they want to keep improving on. So far, they have had little success, as no developers have come forth yet.

Either way, The Simpson's look to have no end in site.

"Woo hoo! Enternity!"

According to an opinion poll, a citizen of the United States can tell you more about The Simpsons then they can about the first five amendments of their own Constitution.

Only one fourth of the people surveyed could name more than one of the five rights guaranteed in the First Amendment. However, over half of the people surveyed could name at least two members of The Simpsons family.

The poll also did a telephone survey of 1000 adults. Only one of these adults could name all five rights in the First Amendment. 22 percent of these people surveyed could name all five members of The Simpsons family.

Joe Madeira, director of exhibitions at the McCormick Tribune Freedom Museum tells us that this study shows us that America's laws need to be explained more thoroughly. He also notes, "We have our job cut out for us."

Instead of being aired on Sunday nights as usual, The Simpsons and fellow cartoon Family Guy are being aired on Friday night. This is because FOX is airing Vertical Limit as a FOX Movie Special on Sunday night. The Simpsons will still start at 8:00 PM.

The episode that is being aired is a rerun, See Homer Run. This epiosde parodies the California election in which there were many unusual people running for govenor. The residents of Springfield call for a recall election after Mayor Quimby does not respond well to a huge pile-up car accident. After Lisa develops DDD (Dissapointed Daughter Disorder) because Homer does not like her Father's Day present as much as he likes Bart's, Homer thinks that if he wins the election he will win back Lisa's love.

A new episode of The Simpsons won't air until January 8th, 2006 at its usual time. This episode, entitled "Homer's Paternity Coot", will involve Marge recieving a letter from a long time ago that may prove that Abe is not really Homer's father.

Fans didn't have to wait long for the The Simpsons Seventh Season Collector's Edition DVD which was released on December 13th, 2005, just in time for the holidays. This is only four months after the sixth season was released in August. It includes all 25 episodes from the 1995-1996 season. It's price is $49.98 (U.S.). The DVD is presented in 1.33:1 full frame with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound in English.

When The Simpsons Season Six was released, many fans were outraged at the box design using Homer's head. FOX made another box cover avaliable and fans could send away for a different case. This time, you can also find the regular box style covers along with the Marge Head Collector's Edition case in stores.

As always, the DVD is filled with special features. The most notable one is commentaries on every episode. They feature the voices of creator Matt Groening, Exectuve Producers Bill Oakley, Josh Weinstein and Dave Mirkin, and also many episode directors and writers.

This is another fine addition to the great DVD set. Let's hope the eighth season is released just as quickly.

The episode will see Homer and Marge going on a 'Wife Swap' style reality show, but while Homer only enters it to win a widescreen television set.   Jun 12 2005 - Simpsons Film Is On

Simpsons creator Matt Groening has been promising a feature film for some time now, but as the hugely popular animated series heads into its seventeenth season, there's not a lot of pressure to move quickly on a movie.

Nevertheless, BBC Radio reports that production is finally getting underway on an untitled Simpsons film. The word came straight from Nancy Cartwright, the actress who has performed the voice of Bart Simpson and several other characters throughout the show's run. While Cartwright was in London for her biographical performance 'My Life as a Ten Year Old Boy', she told the broadcaster that the project had already begun.

"You know what? We've just done the table read for the Simpsons movie so although we've been promoting that we're going to do it, now we're actually doing it and are in production.

"I don't know the name of it and I can't go into details about it and we'll just have to see how it goes, but I think it's going to be great and the fans are going to dig it."

Cartwright added that she expected the film to be out in a few years, but no later. Meanwhile, there's no end in sight for The Simpsons on the FOX network. Watch for updates.
