History
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Almost two decades ago, The Simpsons began and spread the nation like a shockwave. However many people don't remember The Simpson's humble beginnings.
The Tracey Ullman Show was a sketch show on Fox. Matt Groening created short clips to be seen on The Tracey Ullman Show. James L. Brooks, Executive Producer of The Tracey Ullman Show approached Matt about turning the clips into their own television show. At the time, the clips were very basic and crudely drawn. However, the group brought enough talent to produce a pilot that was picked up by networks for a half hour series.
At the time, animation in primetime wasn't very common. In fact, FOX producers wanted The Simpsons to be divided into two fifteen minute segments, but the producers insisted it be just like a regular sitcom but animated. The Simpsons was an instant hit. Bart seemed to be the central character. As the series evolved, Homer became a bigger part of the show and now is the most main character associated with The Simpsons.
Earlier episodes had basic plots. Bart Gets an F, or the family is having money troubles are just a few examples. As the show progressed and got bigger, so did the ideas. By Season 5, Bart had a pet elephant and Homer was an astronaut in outer space.
The Simpsons has sprung many other animated comedies. Some successful and others not. The Critc, King of the Hill, Futurama, South Park and Family Guy are just some examples.
The Simpsons was a major part of the 90's and pop culture. Michael Jackson was just one of many major guest stars to appear on the show. The show started doing averts with Butterfingers and other products. The show spawned thousands of different merchandise including stuffed animals, to Pez Dispenser and to video games.
The Simpsons is now the longest running animated comedy and the longest running sitcom. If The Simpsons goes past twenty sesons it will surpass Gunsmoke as the longest running series ever. No matter how long The Simpsons has run it has obviously had a major impact on television and our pop culture today.
DVDs
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
Since 2001, The Simpsons have been coming out on DVD annually. They are the first DVDs of their kind to have a commentary on every episode. It is a daring, but rewarding feature. Each DVD is packed with easter eggs and special features.
Crew Guide
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
The crew of The Simpsons work long, hard and strenuous hours to deliver us over 20 episodes each year. The animation and director process takes almsot 6 months, and a single line in a script can take hours. The crew is definitely behind the laughter.

Cast Guide
(needs to be ported to the wiki!)
The core cast of The Simpsons have supposedly gone through some tough renegotations but we take their great talents for granted. Many of the shows stars can do multiple voices. Besides doing the voices, the cast can act out emotions and sometimes they hit very close to home. Their comedic timing is great. They help make the scripts come to life and without them, the show definitely could not go on.
